Drought Over For The King

Fri, 09 Sep 16

The King is back!!

It had been 406 days since Rebel King was led back by his owners as the winner, but he did it in style on the weekend.

Although it had been a long drought, he's been racing so consistently and just needed the conditions to suit.

On a Good 4 track, Rebel King was put into a brilliant position early by apprentice Jordan Turner.

He travelled nicely as they approached the home straight and had been given every chance.

With some aggressive riding from Turner, Rebel King was able to beat the fresh Benito by a short-head and hold off a fast finishing King Of The Palace and Volkoff.

Trainer Darren McAuliffe said post-race that the Hannans Handicap was a possibility, but he'd see how he pulled up post-race.
